During the start of my HNC Graphic Design course, I was asked to customise my own pair of Vans shoes upon the official Vans.co.uk website, alongside a unique look book made specifically for my trainers.

I had a fun time completing this brief, and I loved the creative freedom it gave me as a designer. I also thought that the customisable shoe section upon the Vans website was very enjoyable and a clever way to encourage people to be more creative in unique ways.

I utilised the trial and error method throughout the time I spent exploring the customisable section of the Vans website, and I decided that I liked the idea of creating a shoe tailored towards the fascinating “street and skater” style. This aesthetic has always been something that I have admired from a distance. So I wanted to use this exciting, creatively free brief to challenge myself and create something out of my comfort zone. This explains my reasons for using an array of dark toned colours and busy retro patterns within my shoe creation and look book.
