My Graphic Design Internship work

At the beginning of my HND course at Gloucestershire College, me and the rest of my class were all given the opportunity to be interviewed for the singular position of a Graphic Design internship with the in-house Graphic Designer and Marketing team. I successfully secured this role, and am very grateful to have been offered this fantastic opportunity.

I spent three months with the team, helping them with different graphics needed for social media advertisement & print, logos, posters, and the process of updating old design files, to meet the criteria of the new brand guidelines. As well as many other Graphic Design pieces needed for different departments within the college.

During this time I learn’t an abundance of skills, some of which include:

  • Time Management & dealing with multiple deadlines at once

  • Learning which questions to ask the client to gain the most important information

  • More in-depth knowledge about the print industry

  • How to professionally communicate with clients

  • Learning how to adhere to specific brand guidelines

  • Designing appealing & organised graphics for print and social media

  • Increased knowledge within layout design.

Additionally, I have showcased a few of the designs which were completed during this time, on this page.

These designs specifically adhere to Gloucestershire College’s brand guidelines. I have used their specific colour palette, typeface, icon symbols, and overall fixed design style to create these pieces.

I have designed two variations of the Star Student Award poster, and the college will be using these designs in 2024.

Here are some campus wall designs, ready to be used in the future.
