Isometric Island

During my Level three Graphic Design course at Gloucestershire College, I received an interesting brief, supposedly from a private billionaire client who was interested in creating a brand new “luxury holiday island”. They wanted this new island to become the next big holiday destination and open to the public as a “get away like no other”. This meant that I needed to create an original holiday destination idea, that has never been done before, utilising isometric procedures and a grid format.

I began my research into isometric design by looking into various inspirational 3D artists such as: Roman Klco, Jing Zhang, and Nguyen Nhut. I was also set the task of independently learning how to create isometric designs in Illustrator, as this was a technique I had never come across or used before. I also spent some time researching different companies who utilise isometric design like: Minecraft, Lego, and What 3 Words. All of this different research combined helped me to understand how successful and commonly used isometric design is within society today.

During my time spent generating ideas, I came up with a unique concept where visitors would be able to travel the world in a few weeks. I decided that I was going to create a holiday destination filled with exact replicas of the world’s most famous landmarks. I named my holiday destination “Bon Voyage”, and created a personalised flag and currency.
